Dear Parents,

At this time we are getting ready to send our loved ones back to school. Whether we send our children to HHS, LMK one of the elementary schools, or a private school we hope that our children mature in a variety of ways and learn more than the required curriculum. I am a graduate of the Harrison School District and believe our diverse community fosters a strong educational environment because of the efforts of all participants in the process (the schools, parents, teachers, clergy and children).

As a parent of several school age children I realize that August-September is an important time of year to set priorities, organize schedules and re-focus students to school work from summer play. A parent’s participation is to prepare their children to insure that they are ready to learn. Children need help planning for what is expected from them in the way of grades, academic development, sports, etc. in order to set appropriate goals for each grading period that when achieved will result in a sense of accomplishment. Successful goal attainment can foster a positive attitude and the child will feel the effort was worthwhile. At this time the school district is working on the buildings and fields and the teachers are planning lessons and calendars. The parents and children should do their part to make the school year a success.

Sincerely,

Harrisonpost
